Undertake an exciting offshore adventure with the Salcombe Gin Morgan Cup Race 2024, a thrilling sailing challenge organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC).  Starting on Friday 7 June 2024, join as crew on board a Clipper 68 yacht to experience this iconic race from Cowes, Isle of Wight to Dartmouth, the charming coastal town on the south coast of Devon. Line up alongside the impressive RORC competitor fleet with teams from all over the world, and enjoy an exhilarating race heading east out of the Solent before rounding the Isle of Wight, racing west towards the finish line.

This race is open to both novice sailors seeking a first taste of yacht racing and seasoned mariners looking for a new challenge. Regardless of your sailing background, the Morgan Cup promises an unparalleled and memorable race that combines the best elements of camaraderie, skill, and the sheer joy of offshore racing – all under the guidance of our professional Skippers and Mates.

Itinerary

  • 0900 – Arrival at Clipper HQ in Gosport
  • Briefing and afternoon sail training followed by Dinner ashore (included)
  • Overnight on board in Gosport’s Premier Marina.
  • AM Depart Gosport for some further sailing towards Cowes for the Race start.
  • 1150 – Race Start
  • Saturday 8th June – The race will be between 110-150 miles and will take approximately 24-36 hours to complete.
  • Downtime in Dartmouth will subject to race finish time.
  • Sunday 9th June – Depart for return sail to Gosport
  • Expect to depart the yachts no later than 1600 from Gosport Premier Marina on the final day.

Who Can Enter

In order to take part in some sailing race events additional training and qualification events may need to be completed. Please make sure you meet the criteria listed within this section or contact the team for further information.

  • 1. The Cervantes Trophy Race is open to all over 18s.
  • 2. Previous sailing experience is not required.
  • 3. This event is open to corporate teams or teams of friends looking for an unforgettable experience.
