Join us for an unforgettable weekend aboard an iconic Clipper 68 racing yacht for a fun and informative sailing experience on the Solent.

Designed for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, these powerful 68-foot vessels have conquered the toughest seas on the planet — and now it’s your turn to take the helm. Over two incredible days, you’ll get a taste of life as crew on board an ocean racing yacht. You’ll hoist sails, trim sheets, take the helm, and work as part of a close-knit crew — guided by a professional skipper, first mate and second mate. You’ll learn the essentials of teamwork, navigation, and seamanship, while feeling the thrill of a true performance yacht under full sail.

By the end of the weekend, you won’t just have sailed — you’ll have become part of the crew.

No Experience? No Problem.

Whether you’ve never stepped on a yacht before, have some prior sailing experience or you’re already dreaming of joining a future edition of the Clipper Race, this weekend is your perfect introduction to big boat sailing. We’ll teach you everything you need to know in a safe, supportive environment that’s all about learning, laughter, and discovery.

Itinerary

  • 0930 – Arrival at Clipper HQ in Gosport
  • Meet your Skipper and fellow crew before heading down to your boat to drop off your kit
  • Boat familiarisation and safety brief before departing for sailing experience 
  • 1630 – Return to Gosport Premier Marina to freshen up
  • 1830 – Enjoy a BBQ Buffet at the Boathouse Restaurant overlooking the marina + a talk from one of the Clipper Round the World Race team 
  • Overnight on board in Gosport’s Premier Marina 

  • AM Breakfast on board
  • Overview on plan for the day before departing for full day sail on the Solent
  • PM Arrive in Cowes, Isle of Wight where you’ll enjoy an evening at your own leisure
  • Overnight on board in Cowes

  • AM Breakfast on board
  • After breakfast you will enjoy a leisurely sail back to Gosport, arriving around lunch time
  • On arrival back in Gosport, you will assist with a clean down of the boat before departing
  • Depart by 1400pm

Who Can Enter

In order to take part in some sailing race events additional training and qualification events may need to be completed. Please make sure you meet the criteria listed within this section or contact the team for further information.

  • 2. Previous sailing experience is not required.
  • 3. This event is open to individuals or groups looking for an unforgettable experience.
  • 4. Book your place in advance to secure your berth.
  • 5. Gain valuable experience or add more miles to your logbook.
