Event Overview

Take part in the exhilarating Myth of Malham Race 2026 – an epic sailing challenge that navigates the testing waters of the south west coast of England. Immerse yourself in the thrill of offshore racing on board one of our Clipper 68 racing yachts, forging lasting bonds through working with a diverse crew and be captivated by the incredible landscapes of the south west coast.

Your booking includes one and a half days of pre-race training where we will put you through your paces, testing and refining your skills. Throughout your time on board, you will be guided by our professional Skippers and Mates and being an offshore race, this is a unique opportunity to test your mettle and stamina in a competitive racing environment. As such, participants will require some offshore sailing/racing experience to be eligible to take part – if you are unsure of your eligibility, please contact us prior to booking. Crew will be expected to get involved in all aspects of life on board a race yacht, both above and below deck.

THE RACE
Starting on Saturday 23 May 2026 from Cowes, UK, the 235 nautical mile course starts with a thrilling (usually upwind) sail along the western Solent.  If sailing upwind, you can expect to be busy on deck from the start as we beat our way up towards Hurst Castle and The Needles. From here you will navigate across open water past Dorset’s Jurassic Coast to Portland Bill,  then across Lyme Bay towards past Start Point. After approx. 24-30 hours (subject to conditions), you will reach the turning point of Eddystone Lighthouse. This iconic landmark signifies the half way mark and as you round it, you will hopefully pick up some downwind conditions for second half of the race back to the finish line in the Solent.

By choosing the Myth of Malham with Clipper Events, you are assured a memorable race experience that promises both personal growth and the thrill of sailing in a premier offshore race under the guidance of a professional skipper and two mates.
